About Mesothelioma

About Mesothelioma

Majority of the internal organs are covered by a layer of tissues known as mesothelium. The cancer occurring to mesothelium is known as mesothelioma. Mesothelioma is an aggressive form of cancer. Mesothelioma is divided into different categories based on the part of the mesothelium affected. Mesothelioma affecting the tissues surrounding the lungs is known as pleural mesothelioma and mesothelioma affecting the tissues of abdomen is known as peritoneal mesothelioma.

Generally Known Causes of Mesothelioma

Cancer occurs as a result of mutations of a cell causing it to multiply and grow abnormally. The causes leading to genetic mutations are not known. But researchers have identified the some ostensible factors that can increase the risk of mesothelioma. They are as follows:

Asbestos exposure: Exposure to dust particles of asbestos has been found to have a profound influence in the formation of mesothelioma. It has been found that inhaling of asbestos dust can lead to the formation of mesothelioma after about 30 to 40 years.

Living with someone who works with asbestos: People who are frequently handling asbestos may carry the fibers and its dust on their skin and clothing. Regular exposure to such fibers and dust can cause harm to the persons who live in the same house or who share the cloths.

Simian virus: Researchers have found that simian virus commonly found in monkeys is a potential risk factor which increases the possibility of getting mesothelioma.

Dynamic Science (DS) Based Causes of Mesothelioma

Present science (material science) identifies that there are mutations or epigenetic changes happen in the genetic or DNA level that leads to the development of Cancer. Dynamic Science, which explains how mind, vital force (soul) and DNA are interconnected, reveals that our mind regulates the DNA with finality, though there are influences on DNA from the outside energy sources and also from the bio-chemical changes that happen in the physical body. But all DNA changes are ultimately under regulatory control of the mental thoughts. Through our researches based on DSA, we identify different mental and emotional thought processes that constructively and destructively influence the DNA structure. We identify that naturally positive, happy, comfortable, peaceful and pure mental emotional state constructively or curatively modify the DNA whereas negative, unnatural, pessimistic, fearful, destructive mental and emotional states derange the DNA to express itself to an unhealthy plane. Also each thought is connected to a functional system and/or organ of the body.
In this connection we search for specific important mental emotional state/thought that affect the mesothelium in the development of mesothelioma. It is still an ongoing research and development activity and a new direction of scientific observation which can make the development of future Medical Science and a new methodology of treatment.

Symptoms of Mesothelioma

Symptoms shown by mesothelioma are based on the area where it occurs. Pleural mesothelioma which affects the surrounding tissues of lungs produces the following symptoms.

Painful coughing

Pain under the rib cage

Shortness of breath

Unexplainable weight loss

Lumps of tissues forming under this skin of the chest.

Symptoms shown by peritoneal mesothelioma occurring in the abdomen are detailed below.

Abdominal swelling

Abdominal pain

Lumps in the abdomen

Unexplained weight loss

Pericardial mesothelioma which affects the tissues surrounding the heart shows symptoms like chest pain and breathing difficulty. Mesothelioma which affects the tissues surrounding the testicles known as mesothelioma of tunica vaginalis produces swelling in the testicles.

Diagnosis of Mesothelioma

In general SGHHCC and SGCCRC consider all available options for the diagnosis of the cancer. We always prefer non-invasive methods than invasive methods. If invasive methods are highly necessary, then next priority will be to prevent the spread of the cancer as a by-product of the diagnostic procedure. As a general rule, we appreciate the excisional biopsy done after total surgical removal of the entire tumour or affected organ with all nearby enlarged and affected lymph nodes so that the cut ends of the malignant tissues will not become instrument for the spread of the cancer inside the body. The information given below are general diagnostic procedures adopted around the world.

If a patient shows any symptoms of mesothelioma, doctor may conduct a physical examination and check for any lumps or unusual signs. He may also recommend imaging procedures like X-ray, computerised tomography (CT) scan, MRI Scan, etc. After completing this preliminary investigation he may go for one or more of the diagnostic tests discussed below.

Biopsy: it is done by taking a sample of the tissues from the suspected region for detailed microscopic examination in a laboratory.

Thoracoscopy: In this procedure the surgeon inserts a tube with a video camera on one end into the chest cavity. Surgeon examines the cavity and if necessary small samples of the tissues are taken for further examination.
Laparoscopy: In this procedure the surgeon inserts a special instrument called laparoscope into the abdomen which has a camera and a light source on one end of a flexible tube. The surgeon views the inside of the abdomen using this instrument if necessary to take sample of the suspected tissues for further microscopic examination in the lab.
Thoracotomy: This is an open surgical procedure in which the chest of the patient is opened in between the ribs and the surgeon examines the inside for finding any signs of mesothelioma. If necessary samples of the suspicious tissues are taken for further investigation.
Laparotomy: Laparotomy is an open surgical procedure which allows the surgeon to examine the abdomen and find signs of mesothelioma, if any. If necessary samples of the suspicious tissues are taken for further investigation.

Dynamic Scientific Approach (DSA) Treatment for Mesothelioma

At St. George Holistic Health Care Center and St. George Cancer Care and Research Center, we follow a new natural and holistic treatment procedure introduced by our founder director and chief physician Dr. Shaji Varghese Kudiyat known as Dynamic Scientific Approach (DSA). It is based on a new set of scientific hypotheses named as Dynamic Science (DS) which was pioneered by him. Through Dynamic Science, Dr. Kudiyat explains the relationship between the dynamic components like mind and vital force with the physical body. This science further explains the billion dollar questions – what causes cancer in living organisms and how it develops. This science stresses the need for the patient to understand everything about cancer including how it is developing, what are the causes and how it can be prevented and treated and how cured cancer patients can be rehabilitated. These matters are explained to the patient and his/her family members through a group counseling session conducted in our hospital or online video consultation, before the treatment is initiated. This counseling instills confidence in the patient to undergo the treatment procedure. DSA treatment also incorporates the use of natural and dynamic homeopathic medicines, inner healing processes like yoga, meditation, music therapy, etc. and judicious use of surgery, which all provide a conducive atmosphere for the self healing process to become successful in completely curing the cancer if it is within the reversible limits.

Homeopathic Treatment for Mesothelioma

Homeopathy was invented by Dr. Samuel Hahnemann of Germany in 18th century. Homeopathic treatment is very much dependant on the medical fact that human body has self healing immune system which has the potential to cure all diseases by itself. Homeopathy follows a holistic approach and the energy content of homeopathic medicines purifies the vital force through resonance and corrects the wrong mutations or epigenetic changes in the DNA thereby restoring the mutated or wrongly activated genetic makeup of the cells to its original healthy condition. Homeopathic treatment for cancer in our hospital is under the direct control of our founder director Dr. Shaji Varghese Kudiyat who is our chief physician, researcher and scholar in homeopathic medicine and allied matters. He has published a book written by him namely “Homeopathic Medicine, An Unavoidable Medical Revolution.” Dr. Kudiyat writes articles about Dynamic Science and gives seminars, lectures and study classes internationally. His hypotheses and ideas are discussed in international medical conferences which scientifically explain hitherto unanswered question of how homeopathic medicines work. All our patients get the unique opportunity to be treated by our chief physician whose patient specific analysis of the situation and interpretations are unique and greatly beneficial to the patient and the entire family members.
